The Interior Design program here in the country is offered as a baccalaureate degree by most universities and colleges. Aside from undergraduate programs, interior design education is also offered in the graduate level as MS, MA, MFA and MID. The PhD program is not common.
Having a bachelor’s degree in interior design is recommended for those who want a career in this field. After formal education training, the graduates should undergo apprenticeship for one to three years in order to gain experience. This is mandatory before sitting for the national licensing exam. The National Council for Interior Design Qualification administers the licensure examination. The eligibility requirements set by NCIDQ includes a minimum of six years of combined educational training and apprenticeship experience in the field of interior design.
